Timing

After an emotional week, God's gift to me was this beautiful excerpt from John Piper's poem on Hosea about "The Strange Ways of Our Wonderful Builder".

"Think not, my son, that God's great river
Of love flows simply to the sea,
He aims not straight, but to deliver
The wayward soul like you and me.
Follow the current where it goes,
With love and grace it ever flows."

God's ways are not our ways and, as Paul said in Romans 11:33

"Oh, the depths of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!"

We will not understand the events He causes or permits, but we can be assured He will go before us and He will never leave us or forsake us (from Deuteronomy 31:8). There is nothing we will ever face that we can't bring to the throne of our Father, even when we are lost, frustrated and angry in the tragedy surrounding us.

I am so thankful for a merciful God.

  1. Amen, Sister. Thanks for sharing. Cried many tears this week for precious Clint and those broken hearts left behind.
