Faith In Action :)

Hey there family and friends!

Rob and I are doing something radical this Christmas. I say "radical" because many of you know that gift-giving is my love language. And gift-receiving is a close second :) But we have decided to make a larger impact this year--in Jesus' name.

Samaritan's Purse is an amazing organization--a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Last year, a remarkable 89% of all revenue was directed to missions--feeding children, providing prenatal care for pregnant women, equipping doctors to care for the sick and dying, providing livestock to sustain entire villages, among other worthy causes.

We have been participating with Samaritan's Purse for several years through Operation Christmas Child. And this year, when we received a gift catalog, we were moved to tears...and action! How great is the suffering in this world...and how great are our riches! We have to share them. Matthew 25:40 says "I tell you the truth, what you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."

To that end, we are sending half of our budgeted "Christmas gift" money to the household water filter ministry through Samaritan's Purse. For $100, we can provide clean drinking water for one family in an undeveloped country...one where death from water-borne illness is commonplace. We have 4 water filters covered. Would you like to help make it more? Here's a short video about the project.

We realize this is a busy and expensive season for everyone so please don't feel obliged to contribute. However, should you want to partner with us to provide even more water filters, send a check made out to SAMARITAN'S PURSE to us...e-mail me at merylbjones@hotmail.com for our address.

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your guard. Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. ~Isaiah 58:6-11

We pray that you have a blessed Thanksgiving and Christmas Season! Much love, mjs
