Today

I didn't have a great day today. Nothing major, just felt like I had to defend my joy from theft in a hundred tiny ways. I mean, really tiny.

Then I thought about two things that make my "bad day" look plain silly.

A year ago today, two mothers and a precious baby were killed in a tragic car accident near Troy, Alabama. One of those dear mothers was my friend Brittany and the baby was her 13 month old son, Shep. I do not know the family or husband that she left behind well but by God's grace they have chosen to glorify Him in their mourning. They have been an example for us all of that it looks like to praise Him in the storm. This evening I'm thanking God for the beauty Brittany and Shep brought to so many lives.

Another wonderful event to celebrate is a healthy and gorgeous new baby girl that joined us today! Miss Elizabeth will be a light in so many lives, just as her parents and big brother Grant already are. Welcome precious girl! I love you already :)

Casting Crowns "Praise You In This Storm"

"...And I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm"
